My collaboration with Moderus interior connected me to KROST, one of the most important construction companies in the whole Russia, active in Moscow with a lot of construction-sites.
Krost’s work mostly concerns the of buildings with tower-type typology, real residential housing estates composed of hundreds, sometimes thousands, of flats with the most dissimilar sizes.
With Moderus we became partners of Krost’s in some of these estates for jobs, called “Remont” in Russia.
It is common practice all over Russia that the builder cares to realize and 100% finish all the common spaces of the skyscraper, both internal and external: entrance halls, gardens, parks, playgrounds…, while it is the buyer who has to finish his own apartment. This is sold to the rough, ready with all the channelling, but totally stopped at the concrete, even without the boarding. The only specified supplies are the entrance door, the windows and sometimes the radiators.
The project for the distributive solution remains in fact only on paper, as a possible suggestion, which the client is free to personalize.
During the construction work, Krost took care of well refining the floor where to install a sales office. Thanks to this collaboration, Moderus set up a “Remont office” next to the sales one, so that the offer for the buyers was both simple and natural.
The projects illustrated in this small gallery are demos of how, from the simple project on paper proposed by the construction company, infinite variations on the theme can be created.
While respecting the building restraints dictated by orientation, channeling, etc…, my research is a continuous one to propose something innovative or at least unusual and original, but always functional, to the clients that rely on the creativity of an Italian architect.
