The need was that of giving night shelter to my pair of black Labrador Retrievers that live between the garden and our flat.
After going to shops for animals in search of a standard product, I became convinced that the best solution was to design the dog kennel myself and have it realized by a trusted carpenter.
It was in this way that I conceived the project of a kennel of almost 3 square metres with a porch, open but protected from sun or wind, equipped with stainless steel bowls for food and drink.
The most “private” zone is totally closed one metre by one metre and the dogs enter it through a small passage.
On the closed part, which the dogs enter through a door, there is a practical storage for food, blankets, collars and leashes, etc..
With regards to the materials I opted for the marine plywood of Okumé for the infills and for fir planks for the structural part.
Some parts were then further protected (more from the dogs than from inclement weather…) with pre-painted folded brown sheet metal, supplied and custom worked by the tin smithery group Grippi Anna in Erba.
